TOP 10 PLACES I WANT TO VISIT

Writer's picture: Dan Dan

I have visited 20 countries so far. Although I am very grateful to have been to this many, I am hungry to visit more. I would really like to explore more of Asia and as I have never been to South America that part of the world really intrigues me. Below is a map created of the countries I have visited.

Here you can create a map of the counties you’ve been to:

Comment below with your number of countries visited and your map

1. Prague, Czech Republic

I have heard so many great things about this place. The place is full of rich history. The city’s gothic architecture brings plenty of character to this medieval style city. The city has a large river through the middle, which offers idyllic boat rides. The Old Town Square is a vibrant area full of history. A must see is the astronomical clock. Prague seems the perfect city break, although it's not the cheapest destination to visit prices locally are cheap meaning you don’t need so much spending money.

2. Kyoto, Japan

On my last visit to Japan our plan was to travel to Kyoto. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to go there. The old capital of Japan is famous for its temples, gardens and shrines. Kyoto’s main attraction is its bamboo forest. A walk through the forest with high growing bamboo shoots offer an immersive experience. Fushimi Inari Taisha is a shrine with a row of red gates leading up to it, which is also a great walk. Kinkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera are some of the iconic temples but there are many more in Kyoto to explore.

3. Banff National Park, Canada

There are so many good National Parks around the world. As a nature lover I would love to visit them all. Banff National Park is one that particularly stands out for me. Moraine Lake, Lake Louise and Peyto Lake are just some of the utterly stunning lakes the park has to offer. The park is filled with textured mountains and depending on the time of year they are covered in snow. In winter there are ski and snowboarding activities that are available. There are boat and canoe tours on offer as well as horse and snow dog sleigh transportation. The park is full of wildlife, the two animals I would love to see in the wild are wolves and grizzly bears, which roam the park.

4. Melbourne, Australia

I have been fortunate to visit Australia twice as I have family there. One thing I particularly noticed about Australia is the beach and BBQ culture. I felt as it is such a happy place and the sun was always shining. Melbourne is a lively city. The city has a strong art culture with galleries and art complexes. Melbourne is rich with bars and restaurants in its plaza’s and squares which run along the Yarra river. To top off this great city, it also has the Melbourne beach which is the perfect place to hang out with friends.

5. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Salar De Uyuni is the largest flat salt in the world. The prehistoric lake once went dry creating a a desert like landscape of white salt rock. This attraction is unique and as a keen photographer is a great place for perspective shots. The area is rare for wildlife although the area does habitat pink flamingos.

6. Seoul, South Korea

The county's capital has a great blend of skyscraper buildings and Buddhist temples. South Korea is renowned for its global pop culture such as –pop, TV dramas and cinema. The main thing that excites me about South Korea is the food (yes, I am thinking with my stomach again). Koreans are known for their BBQ meats, noodle and rice dishes. If you're not sure on what South Korean food has to offer visit:  https://theculturetrip.com/asia/south-korea/articles/14-mouth-watering-south-korean-foods-to-try/

7. Cinque Terre, Italy  Cinque Terre is a string of old seaside towns on the Italian Riviera coastline. The name translates to the 5 towns. These towns are filled with colorful houses and vineyards that hang on to the cliff edge. The harbors are filled with fishing boats providing excellent seafood to the towns. Two things I love combine here. Cliffside hiking trails that link the towns overlooking the sea and boat rides looking back on the colorful terraces hanging on the cliff side.

8. Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown is on the shore of the South Island of New Zealand. The place is renowned for its adventure sports. There are many fun activities to take part in such as bungee jumping of Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge and jetboating down rivers. In the winter the place offers skiing on the slopes. I’m not the biggest fan of heights but love looking at a view from up high. Queenstown has a cable car overlooking the town and has a zipline with a great view. The town has breathtaking lakes and incredible hikes.

9. Jaipur, India

Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. The city is known as the “Pink City” for its building colours. If you're a fan of architecture like myself, Jaipur has some of the most beautiful looking buildings, but it also has great gardens, courtyards and museums. Jaipur is known for its spiciness of its food. I am a massive fan of Indian food, which is one reason this country appeals to me so much. If you're interested in seeing what food you must try in Jaipur, click the link:  https://www.crazymasalafood.com/top-20-dishes-must-eat-jaipur/

10. Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, Colombia

Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona looks a tropical paradise. The area boarders the Colombian Caribbean coast. The golden sandy beach is covered with coconut palm trees and surrounded by a rainforest. Behind is the coastal mountain range of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The place looks the perfect relaxing getaway. Accessed via the forest trails you can visit the archeological site of the Pueblito ruins.
